soaking for the soul

January 20, 2016

Taking care of my skin is like taking care of my soul…a little weekly “me time” for my skin and for my sanity. The principles are easy: soak, meditate, exfoliate, hydrate, and rest. skin caresoaking for the soul soaking for the soul

Tiber River has these great bath bombs that turn your water a shade of color, depending on the scent. I chose lavender and ended up with this beautiful pink hue. I ALWAYS add epsom salts to my bath. Sooo many heath benefits to using epsom salt. It’s a great way for your body to detox and absorb magnesium sulfate which help regulate the activity of over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation, help muscle and nerve function, improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and help ease migraine headaches. If you don’t have a jar of epsom salts beside your bath tub, you should! Even better, add a few drops of essential oil (lavender for relaxation, orange for uplifting) and voila…spa!

Exfoliate with a natural coarse ingredient like a coffee scrub, or use a luffa.

Meditate. Light a candle, brink your book, close your eyes, this is YOUR time. Bathing (like in a bath tub as opposed to a shower) should be a weekly ritual for its beauty and health benefits but also for your peace of mind.

Hydrate. Yes…your skin is ready to absorb some serious goodness. Here are some of my fav’s: products

No parabens or chemicals. They use botanical extracts because they are usually water soluble and contain vitamins, minerals and other ingredients that are beneficial to the skin.  Great price point for quality skin care too!
Eye Nourisher
Approximately 44 ingredients involved to brighten, soothe, calm, firm, nourish and hydrate the sensitive area around our eyes.  It works to soften away dark circles, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It has been clinically tested by an Ophthalmologist.  $27.50
Nutritious Crème Masque
Such a creamy masque, I loved how moisturized my skin felt! Pure white china clay draws impurities and excess oils from the sin and leaves the skin feeling firm while powerful emollients like shea and mango butter work to soothe the skin. It is definitely a creamy elegant masque to follow our exfoliating with the Rice Bran Polisher.  $20.35

Soooo gooood. Smells delish and check out those ingredients. No need for a lot this stuff is potent. I use it as a leave on face mask at night. Read my whole review and where to buy here!
Gardenia & Tea Body Serum
This light weight organic spritz is a blend of ultra hydrating organics. Super convenient, easily absorbed, and specifically designed to be applied to damp skin, really nice for after a bath! Contains Antileukine 6, an original marine active ingredient. Anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, and anti-inflammatory properties! Available from Holly & Ivy. Did I mention Holly & Ivy pays it forward and donates 50% of their net profits to their sister organization- the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund. Wow!  I also just checked their site and it’s on sale!!
I love SunnaTan products so much, I offer them on my e-store! Their line is all around a supreme organic quality product. We’re talking smells out of this world yummy, hydrates all naturally (body lotion & coconut oil), adds beautiful golden color (colour me dark & keep me golden), and they’re CANADIAN! Yup. Read my review on my results, how to use, and why I love them in comparison to all other brands out there. Check out my shop for more on each product available!
